About Infraxus

A bookkeeping firm with one person in it, and that person does your books.

Liam Collier, ex-BDO Auckland, has kept the books of hundreds of New Zealand and Australian businesses. The person who replies to your text is the person who reconciles your file every week, closes your month and writes the note on what the numbers mean. There is no team you never meet and no queue you get routed through.

Who texts Liam

Most people who text are in one of three spots.

Months behind on the books and the GST returns, and it gets harder to look at every month. Or a bookkeeper or tax agent went quiet, or got expensive, and the file is somewhere in between. Or you are the partner or the office manager doing the books on top of your own job, and you want it taken off you. None of that is unusual and none of it is a problem. It is the normal starting point, and it is exactly what the first 48 hours are for.

Where Infraxus fits

Three people around the numbers.

Most businesses end up with three. Most owner run businesses only ever get the first two.

01 · Your tax agent

Tax and year end.

The income tax return, the filings and the year end accounts. Every business needs one, and yours stays exactly where they are: Infraxus hands them a clean file and a pack at year end with nothing to reconstruct. If you would rather have one person across all of it, year end accounts and income tax returns are available to bookkeeping clients, quoted separately.

Infraxus
02 · The bookkeeper

The ledger, right every week.

Reconciled weekly, coded the way the business works, closed by the 5th, in your own Xero or QuickBooks Online file. GST returns, payday filing, PAYE and KiwiSaver are an add on, done by the same person who keeps your books. See the fee.

Infraxus
03 · The CFO

What the numbers mean, and what to do.

Cash you can see coming, margin by job and client, and a short written note each month on what needs a decision. Included in the bookkeeping fee.

Infraxus does the second and third, which is why the bookkeeping comes with a written note from a CFO every month, and why that note starts from books that are actually right.

Born and raised in Whangarei. Business advisory at BDO Auckland first, working with owner operated and mid market businesses: forecasting, reporting, and helping owners understand the numbers behind their decisions. I completed the CA program, then chose commercial finance over compliance work.

Then the other side of the table. I ran the finance function of a 130 person law firm: cash, management reporting, profitability and owner decision support. That is where it became obvious how few owner run businesses ever get someone doing that job.

Then my own firm. A fractional CFO to seven and eight figure businesses across construction and trades, professional services, agencies, manufacturing, distribution, healthcare, ecommerce and multi entity groups, and the bookkeeper for owner run businesses that wanted one person across both. I have done New Zealand bookkeeping for years, and some of those clients I have worked with for years. Infraxus LLC is a US company, and it serves New Zealand, Australian and US clients.

The bookkeeping was referral only for years. I never marketed it, because the manual work used to take too long to offer at a fair fee. My systems now do the bulk of the grunt work in minutes instead of hours, and I do the part a person is still needed for: the judgement, and telling you what the numbers actually mean before you have to act on them.

Client reference
“Liam rebuilt our budget from the bottom up and restructured the ledger so we could actually see delivery margins and where payroll was really going… The reporting was genuinely useful: true cash position after obligations, utilisation by consultant, and straight commentary on what needed a decision each month. Always delivered on time, no fuss, and having clean numbers made life easier when the business changed hands.”

How the firm works

Four things that do not change.

They decide who does the work, where your data lives, and what you keep.

01

One person does the work.

The person who replies to your text reconciles the file, closes the month and writes the note. Liam takes on four new files a month so that stays true.

02

Your books stay in your file.

The work happens inside your own Xero or QuickBooks Online subscription, through adviser access you grant and can remove in one click. Nothing is copied into a ledger of ours, because there is no ledger of ours. How your data is handled.

03

You pay nothing until it has earned the second month.

The first month is free, with no card and nothing to sign. If month end is not closed by the 5th, that month is free. If the first month has not earned the second, you owe nothing and keep the clean file. Cancel any time by email.

04

A person signs every number.

Liam's systems handle the routine. Every transaction, every reconciliation and every sentence of the monthly note is reviewed by him before it reaches you.

“Most bookkeeping is sold as data entry. That is not what an owner is actually paying for. You are paying to be certain the number in front of you is right, and to be told what it means before you have to act on it. That is the job, and it is the one I do.”
